AU-IBT reaps impressive results from European survey
The survey has been carried out among students, and the results strongly indicate that AU-IBT performs in accordance with its own values to great satisfaction. Two of AU-IBT’s strategic values are close interaction with the business community and close interaction with the students. The results confirm that AU-IBT stands out positively in these two areas among the rest of the 774 higher educational institutions from the survey. Furthermore, the results show which factors the students from AU-IBT attach most importance to e.g. when choosing where to study and the performance of AU-IBT.
Top scorers: Cooperation with companies and close interaction between students and teaching staff
The two major factors found in the survey from AU-IBT are cooperation with the companies and the teachers' availability and helpfulness – in other words, the interaction with the business community and the students.
The students at AU-IBT attach most importance to the cooperation with companies when deciding upon an educational institution. In fact, the cooperation with the business community counts as the most important factor among 96.8 % of the engineering students at AU-IBT. At the same time, the students allot AU-IBT top scorer in connection with performance when cooperating with companies. To be more specific, the cooperation with the business community is expressed in AU-IBT’s unique Corporate Partnership Programme drawing regional companies and the students close together. Some of the elements in a corporate agreement with AU-IBT are mentorship programmes, student projects, placements, apprenticeship programmes, research projects and sponsorships.
The teachers’ availability and helpfulness is another factor standing out seen from the AU-IBT students’ point of view. Compared to the rest of the country, almost twice as many students from AU-IBT think that the teachers’ availability and helpfulness is an important element when choosing educational institution. The business economy students at AU-IBT ranked the teachers’ availability and helpfulness as the top scorer with 85.9 % when it comes to performance. At AU-IBT, the modern facilities make it possible to offer all study programmes at the same location, thus both students and employees are accommodated geographically at the same place. In addition, the teachers follow the principle that while in offices their doors are kept open to welcome students with questions.
According to the survey, AU-IBT exceeds the students’ expectations when it comes to factors such as study environment, facilities, level of service and international orientation. The students have evaluated the importance of various factors, after which they have stated whether AU-IBT meets the importance of the factors or performs better or worse. The students at AU-IBT evaluate all the factors in the survey to a higher score than the importance of them; consequently, the factors exceed the expectations of the students.
About the survey
Each year, the survey European Student Barometer is conducted online among students from many European countries. 195.000 students have participated in the latest survey, and the participants are from 775 different higher educational institutions in 22 countries. In total, 2.228 Danish students have participated in the survey; of these 244 are students at AU-IBT. The survey is targeted at business/economics and engineering/IT students.
